Sophia Tibaya Mwita

Sophia Tibaya Mwita is a passionate youth advocate, educator, and community development practitioner committed to advancing girls’ rights, gender equality, and social justice. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Egerton University and is a trained teacher of English and Literature. Sophia serves as an Associate Project Officer at Tunaweza Empowerment Organization, where she contributes to community mobilization, mentorship, and advocacy initiatives aimed at ending Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), Child, Early and Forced Marriage (CEFM), and other harmful practices affecting adolescent girls and young women.

She is a dedicated AGYW mentor, SRHR advocate, and digital content creator using storytelling and digital platforms to challenge harmful social norms and amplify girls’ voices. She also serves as the County Focal Person for Migori under the Youth Anti-FGM Network Kenya. Sophia is currently a fellow for the Girls For The Boardroom Fellowship, committed to building adolescent girls and young women\'s agency to demand for inclusion in decision making spaces. Sophia is self-driven, resilient, and passionate about building a violence-free society where girls and women are empowered to participate meaningfully in decision-making and shape their own futures.
