Hellen Otaigo Meteti
A women’s rights and child rights practitioner. She is also a community development specialist with over 10 years of experience in program management and leading empowerment processes including community-led Participatory Change Plans (CLPCPs) at ActionAid International, Kenya (AAIK); the leading anti-poverty agency working directly with over one million poor and excluded people in 15 counties in Kenya that have over 40 years of knowledge and experience working with poor communities, and yet every day we are learning the solutions from the people we work with ActionAid is un-apologetic in advancing women’s rights and ensuring that women living in poverty and exclusion are at the center of our work in Kenya. We commit to working with Women, Children, and Youth to claim and realize their constitutional rights through working within three main pillars; empowerment, solidarity and campaigning. Hellen possesses extensive skills in partner capacity building, anti-Female Genital Mutilation advocacy, child development, fundraising, financial management, community mobilization, public policy influence, and safeguarding procedures. She believes that inclusive development and the achievement of sustainable development goals (SDGs) is possible within a generation if women and children are equitably accorded development opportunities and their rights are protected. Hellen also aspires to be a reference for inclusive and sustainable development in Africa and beyond.
